Step 1: Sneak a pill from the bottle without making noise that might alert the feline to the impending medical intervention. Remember cats are basically mother nature’s little killing machines with super-human hearing. So good luck. Tuck the pill into an easily accessible pocket for later retrieval. Easily accessible is KEY as you will be holding a ball of angry fur when you fish out that pill. This is no time for skinny jeans.

Step 2: Find elbow length leather gardening gloves. Cut off the pointer finger and thumb tip on the glove of your dominant hand to allow for extra dexterity. Yes, this is most likely now precisely where kitty will puncture your skin. It must be done otherwise you will drop the ten dollar pill. Then it will inevitably skid under the refrigerator and be lost along with your cat’s favorite toy. Which incidentally they are still pretty pissed about.

Step 3: Dawn your gloves and find the largest beach towel you can. Be sure it is nothing you care about. The towel will most likely be shredded into fine threads by kitty’s ferociously sharp claws before the day is done. Expendability is what you are going for here.

Steps 4 — probably about 29 but possibly up to ∞ : Look under various pieces of furniture to locate the cat…
